    Filed in Homeland, Tv Series

Based on the popular Israeli show, “Hatufim” (2009?2010), the series follows CIA operative Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) as she investigates Sergeant Brody (Damian Lewis), whose loyalties may have shifted during the eight years in which he was held hostage in Afghanistan. The rest of the CIA and the entire nation see Brody as a great American hero, but Mathison suspects he may be an al?Qaida agent, and foresees possible destruction.

The Emmy-winning Danes makes Mathison appear to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown every time she is on screen. Danes’ stellar acting adds immense tension to many scenes; she takes seemingly simple tasks and makes them monumental in magnitude and scope.

Mathison secretly takes anti?psychotic medication and always seems to be one mistake away from being fired, and “Homeland” uses both of these dramatic hinges to its advantage. It becomes hard for viewers to distinguish between her believable delusions and actual threats that only she notices. This ambiguity paints Mathison as a microcosm for the larger struggle with terrorism — her intense paranoia makes it difficult for her to sort out genuine from delusional concerns.

Even more disconcertingly, the viewer knows Mathison is watching Brody and his wife’s sex scene voyeuristically from her surveillance monitor. Mathison quickly slips into obsession about learning the truth about Brody — so much so that she seems to pose a greater threat to society than the questionable Brody himself.

The quiet sense of menace that lurks through almost every scene of this brilliant new show makes “Homeland” an edge?of?your?seat thriller. The show is filled with gritty and realistic details, and yet it is still hard to tell exactly where the show is going to go next. A television thriller with top?notch acting, suspenseful atmosphere and a thoughtful plot, “Homeland” should capture the attention of many viewers.

British actor Hugh Dancy spends his life criss-crossing the Atlantic to spend time with his American wife Claire Danes, but he is determined to make their long-distance marriage work.

The Confessions of a Shopaholic star met Danes on the set of their 2007 movie Evening and they married in France in 2009.

Dancy admits they split their time between New York and London, but they try to co-ordinate their schedules so they can be together as much as possible.

He tells Britain’s Press Association, “I could be in London. I could be in New York. Same is true of (Claire). She’s worked in London more than I have, as a matter of fact, and I’ve worked in New York more than she has. The occasional challenge is matched by the great opportunities and advantages… I’ve been lucky enough to chart a kind of strange course in between. I’ve been able to do it enough so far.”

When you star in a political drama on television, it can be challenging keeping things light behind the scenes. But Homeland stars Claire Danes and Morena Baccarin have found something adorable they can chitchat about on the set of their intense thriller: dogs.

“She has a dog that’s kind of similar in scale to mine,” Danes tells PEOPLE. “And so we kind of have a little dog commune and that’s fun.”

When Danes decided to take the role as a CIA analyst, she and her husband, Hugh Dancy, agreed that it would be best if she took their schnoodle, Weegee, down south to Charlotte, N.C., for the long shoot. “He does miss him,” she says of Dancy – and Weegee seems to miss the idyllic life at their country home in upstate New York.

“He gets really freaked out whenever there are rainstorms, which there have been many in Charlotte,” she says. “It’s not been the best location.”

Come mid-November, Danes and Weegee will head back up north to Dad, who’s starring in the Broadway play Venus in Fur, and she’ll have plenty of downtime until filming starts up again in January.

“I love all the fresh produce and the simple sort of lifestyle it affords,” she says of the country. “It’s kind of great because it’s the best pressure valve. It’s so nice to go to a place where I can be and look however I want with a cow as my witness.”

Yay exciting news for every Claire fans!

Starting off strong, new action thriller “Homeland” has scored a second season order from Showtime. The cable channel announced the renewal after airing four episodes of the rookie which was seen by 4.4 million viewers across various platforms in its first week.

The October 2 premiere itself drew 1.1 million viewers, marking Showtime’s most watched drama premiere in eight years since “Dead Like Me”. More impressively, the audience number keeps increasing with its most recent episode hitting a series high. The show now becomes the highest-rated new series ever for the network.

” ‘Homeland’ is just getting started,” said David Nevins, President of Entertainment at Showtime. “Clearly, the overall audience growth from week one to week four demonstrates that this show is hitting a nerve in the cultural zeitgeist.”

Paired with “Dexter”, “Homeland” centers its story on Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison, a CIA officer who is convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of Scott Brody (Damian Lewis), who had been missing and presumed deal for nine years, was setup and connected to an Al Qaeda plot aimed at American soil. Mandy Patinkin stars as a veteran CIA Division Chief who is Carrie’s boss and mentor.

The new season, which consists of another twelve episodes, will begin the production in the spring of 2012.
