Yay, congratulations for Claire!

“Homeland” star Claire Danes has won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Drama.

The new Showtime series centers on Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), a former POW held hostage by al-Qaeda. Once home with his family, he embarks on a game of cloak and dagger with bipolar CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Danes) who is convinced that Brody may or may not be a terrorist that was “turned” while in captivity.

Danes is one of the most accomplished actresses of her generation and previously won a Golden Globe and Emmy for Best Actress in a Miniseries HBO’s “Temple Grandin” in 2010. In 1995, when she was 15, Danes also won a Best Actress Golden Globe for a drama series for “My So-Called Life.”

“Homeland” also received a Best Actor nomination for star Damian Lewis as well as three nominations for various writing awards handed out by the Writers Guilf of America.

Star-Ledger TV critic Alan Sepinwall thinks “Homeland” is a top-notch new series — one that’s off to a strong start. “When “Homeland” debuted, we knew that Claire Danes and Damian Lewis were both giving riveting lead performances (and that the supporting players weren’t too shabby, either),” he wrote on Hixfix after the season finale aired.
