IMDB has listed Claire’s upcoming movie “As Cool as I am” as complete, which means some promoting material should start soon. I made a little research for us and unfortunately no Claire stills have been released yet, as well as a release date, but I leave you with a short description on the movie’s plot.
Lucy (Bolger) is a self-confessed tomboy that is considered one of the guys with her masculine haircut and attitude. She gets on well with her father (Marsden) but is frequently separated from him for months on end when he works in Canada. Her relationship with her mother (Claire Danes) is easy-going provided she keeps the house tidy. Her mother’s lenience even allows her daughter to drive her car, even when she is too young to apply for a license.
As Lucy turns 14, she becomes more in tune with her sexuality and her family dynamics. She develops a type of friends with benefits relationship with her best friend Kenny. She also ditches her toyboy image, embraces make-up and grows out her hair. She begins to realise that her parents marriage is not as solid as she had imagined. She realises that her father’s extended stays abroad are not typical of other fathers. Furthermore she realises that her mother does not pine for her father as much as she does herself. In fact, her allegiance to her father is tested when she discovers her mother is enjoying a romance with a colleague.
She pro-actively seeks sexual satisfaction after she is left with a void when Kenny has to move away. She also begins to realise that there is more to her father’s extended stays in Canada than she had previously imagined.
It’s going to be nice to see Claire on a movie again, after such a long time, and this time playing the mother of a teenage girl – this should be interesting!
Homeland’s pilot episode is available in youtube and you can watch it here. However, it may not be available to eveyrone, as it isn’t for me, but I thought I’d share it anyway. If anyone manages to see it, please leave a comment with your opinions.
I was checking IMDB for some updates on Homeland and I realized a new project had been added to Claire’s filmography, named As Cool As I Am.

Also I am sorry for the slow updates, but my real life makes me really busy, specially my job, and it’s hard to run the site alone, since it’s Claire’s most popular and most visited on the web, I will try to keep doing my best though!
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Claire Danes will star in a new Showtime drama series, entitled Homeland, which will be executive produced by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, who worked together on FOX’s 24. Director Michael Cuesta, who is best known for his work on Showtime’s Dexter and HBO’s True Blood, will helm the project.
Danes will play lead character Carrie Anderson in Homeland. Anderson is “an ambitious CIA officer battling her own psychological demons who becomes convinced that something is not right and that the returning soldier might be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil,” according to the L.A. Times.
The announcement from Showtime that Danes will star in Homeland illustrates how her career has truly come full circle. The Emmy Award-winning actress’ breakthrough role was in ABC’s My So-Called Life, for which she received a Golden Globe in 1994.
Showtime execs have also announced that the role of the soldier will be cast in the immediate future.
The upcoming drama, which is loosely based on the Israeli television series Prisoners of War, is the first project to be ordered by David Nevins, who took over as Showtime’s President of Entertainment three months ago.
She’s been in talks with the producers of “Homeland” for awhile, and now it’s confirmed that Claire Danes is set to play the lead female role.
According to Deadline Hollywood, “Homeland” is centered around an American soldier taken prisoner during the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Ms Danes will play Carrie Anderson, a driven CIA officer battling her psychological demons who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to his re-capture was a setup and that this national hero may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil.
This marks the first series project Claire has done since ABC’s “My So-Called Life.
Emmy winner Claire Danes is in talks for the female lead in Showtime’s drama pilot Homeland. The psychological thriller, from former 24 executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon, would mark Danes’ first series gig since her star-making turn on ABC’s My So-Called Life 15 years ago, which earned her a Golden Globe award and an Emmy nomination.
Michael Cuesta (Dexter) is directing Homeland, which is produced by Fox 21. Based on the Israeli format Hatufim aka Prisoners of War, it tells the story of an U.S. Marine Sergeant Scott Brody who is recovered during a drone strike 10 years after going missing during the invasion of Baghdad. It centers on Carrie Anderson – the role that Danes would play – a smart, driven and iconoclastic CIA case officer who tracks down threats to homeland security coming from the Middle East. She receives a tip from an informant that the American POW enjoying a hero’s welcome home has been turned and he is leading the next big strike against the American homeland. The series chronicles Anderson’s efforts to expose Brody and uncover the truth.
Homeland, the first pilot greenlighted by new Showtime entertainment president David Nevins, was written on spec by Gordon, fellow 24 executive producer Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff, the creator of the original series. The three are executive producing with Avi Nir and Ron Telem. After focusing exclusively on features for the past 15 years, Danes ventured into TV as the lead of this year’s acclaimed HBO biopic Temple Grandin, which earned her an Emmy Award.
IMDB added a new project linking Claire’s name. It’s a movie called Maladies and is currently in pre-production. Claire is rumoured to be playing a character named Julianne.
A talented and successful actor retires at a young age due to a perceived mental illness. Now living in a small town with his deranged sister and his best friend, we watch as their Maladies intertwine.
The movie also features other stars such as James Franco and Kathy Bates.
Today I bring you two special goodies, thanks to Nick who kindly wrote me and told me about this. First there’s this trailer to Dreams Of Love, Claire’s first film. She was very young in here and it’s interesting to look at her first work; I haven’t seen it before to be honest!
And last Nick also sent me a link to this interview with Claire for Venice Magazine, which features the shoot I used for our current layout. Since the interview is pretty big to put here, you can follow this link and read directly on the site.
“I think a lot of creative people struggle with understanding where reality and imagination meet, because you’ve got to manipulate and challenge them both when you are an artist. I know now that I can choose to do that or not; it’s under my power. It’s the good thing about being 30. I somehow figured that out, finally,”
